I love making things by hand and for me, that's a big part of being an artist... so, I have taken a Quilting class, a basket weaving class as well as a cake decorating class... this past weekend, I volunteered to do some baking for the ART FOR ANIMALS 2009, an art auction and chocolate affair that benefits the Georgetown Animal Shelter... so here's my little westies cupcakes. No, I did not come up with this idea on my own. The recipe came from the Hello CupCake book... Lots of interesting recipes.

It has been almost a year since I have collaborating with the Georgetown Animal Shelter. This one in particular has a fun title that makes me smile... and that's not because I helped come up with it. The challenge for event posters is to make it look fun. In case it does not look fun, I can guarantee it that I had fun doing it.

Faz quase um ano que eu comecei á trabalhar com a Sociedade Protetora de Animais de Georgetown. Este evento tem um título divertido que me faz sorrir... e isso não tem nada á ver que foi uma idéia minha. É sempre importante fazer que posters que sejem atraentes e divertidos... Em caso não pareça divertido, eu posso guarantir que pelo menos eu me diverti durante a criação.

Okay... This past week has been a good one... lot's of good news. So on Wednesday, I find out about the "Animals & Mythology" book (Please see my previous post!). Then on Thursday, I received an email letting me know that the Williamson Museum Logo and the Poster for the 2008 Art for Animals are going to be part of a different book that will be distributed around the world and published by HarperCollins Publishers in early 2010.

Designing for the Greater Good  by Peleg Top and Jonathan Cleveland will feature the best of design work created for Non-Profit organizations. These 2 pieces were able to hold their own among thousands of other entries... Which is pretty cool! Both are great clients that were a pleasure to work with!

Bom... Esta última semana foi ótima... recebi muitas notícias boas. Na quarta, eu fiquei sabendo sobre o livro de "Animais & Mitologia" (Dá uma olhadinha no meu último post). E no dia seguinte, eu recebo um email me avisando que o logotipo que eu criei para o Williamson Museum e o poster para o "Arte para Animais 2008" foram escolhidos para um livro diferente. O livro será distribuido pelo mundo á fora e publicado pela Harper Collins no começo de 2010.

Designing for the Greater Good  by Peleg Top and Jonathan Cleveland irá mostrar o melhores trabalhos de design criado para organizações governamentais e caridades. Estes dois trabalhos foram escolhidos entre milhares de outros... O que eu acho que é bem legal. Os dois são ótimos clientes e foi um grande prazer trabalhar com eles.

So, I just got the news from the Folks of Logo Lounge, that they are publishing a book of logos with the theme of "Animals & Mythology" and that my work has been selected to be part of it. Art For Animals is an art auction and chocolate affair organized by the Georgetown Animal Shelter. The Haviland Turkey Trot was created for a dear friend and her family's annual Thanksgiving tradition. The book will be published by Rockport Publishers early in 2010.

Bom, eu acabo de receber notícias do pessoal do Logo Lounge, que eles vão publicar um livro de logotipos com o tema de "Animais & Mitologia" e que o meu trabalho foi escolhido. Arte para Animais é um leilão de arte (criada por artistas e animais) organizada pela a Sociedade Protetora de Animais de Georgetown. O logotipo com o peru representa uma corrida, The Haviland Turkey Trot, que é uma tradição na familia de uma grande amiga minha.  O livro será publicado em 2010 pela Rockport Publishers.

Okay! Being from Brazil, I should know all about Mardi Gras, but truth be told that it has been awhile since I have done the Samba. Actually, this is a Mardi Gras for the four legged folks in our community, but feel free to dress up as well. Paws for Mardi Gras is a benefit for the Georgetown Animal Shelter and it promises to be a lot of fun!

Sendo brasileiro, eu deveria saber tudo sobre Carnaval, mas a verdade seja dita que já faz um bom tempo que eu não danço um sambinha. Para ser sincero, este Carnaval é para a comunidade canina de Georgetown, Mas sinta-se á vontade de se fantasiar também. Paws for Mardi Gras irá arrecadar verba para a Sociedade Protetora de Animais de Georgetown. e promete ser bem divertido.
